I guess that’s what Meijer would have us think. I recently changed my subscription settings on Meijer.com, and now I’m getting emails like this one:
Like any wise shopper, I suggest comparing online prices. The prices they’re posting seem somewhat comparable to what Amazon.com has these same items priced at, so obviously manufacturers are offering deals.
I heard on NPR the other day that this is a new retail strategy – retails are worried about this Xmas season so they’re offering deals sooner to entice folks to buy – they’re copying the Amazon GoldBox concept.
I keep bringing up Amazon, but ever since we got our free Amazon Prime subscription, I’ve been shopping there a lot more. I don’t know that it will continue when that runs out, but I’m sure loving it now!

I hit Meijer yesterday for a couple of bigger deals that I probably mentioned, but they turned out to be sweeter than I thought.
However, the deal on Campbell’s cream soups (there is more than just Cream of Mushroom and Cream of Chicken on sale for $.99).

PLUS, when you buy 5, you get a free loaf of Pepperidge Farm bread (currently on sale for $2.49) AND a Catalina for $5.
You are able to buy your soup and your bread, get your $5 catalina and turn around and do it over again with the Catalina. Rinse and repeat til your coupons run out. This is the sort of occasion when buying coupons would pay off. Stock up for right around $5, you can get a lot!

This is a perfect example of how pairing store & manufacturer coupons pays off. Here are the details:

Remember that Meijer only doubles two of the same coupons. The deal above assume that two of the $.40 coupons would NOT double. Since you need to buy 3 for the Catalina to print, doing multiple transactions won’t work to use all of the coupons. It’s still a great deal, regardless.
To make this EVEN better, these qualify for the $5 SC Johnson Rebate too! So, after the rebate, you actually make money on this.
